Actually, I slept OK and the breakfast on the next day was also OK. The bed, however, appeared to be clean and was fine. Specifically, it cost some motivation to use the bathroom, e.g., the varnish of the bathtub was eroding and flushing the toilet also caused some serious problems. The motel somehow was worn down and the rooms were not in a good shape. Since I stayed in Quality Inn motels before and, so far, always got a decent room for a fair price (especially when you are on the road for more than a week and literally speding every night in a different hotel) I thought I cannot make a mistake by booking a Quality Inn again. It is quite difficult to find a hotel in the east of Charlotte.
